Roald Dahl’s The BFG.

In Year 4 the children have been looking at how he describes characters, creates suspense and hooks the reader. Inspired by The BFG’s ‘enormous ears’ and incredible hearing, in Science we have been investigating sound and how it travels. We observed the vibrations created by a tuning fork in water, strumming guitar strings and banging drums. The children enjoyed feeling the vibrations of the tuning fork tickling their ears! In Maths the children have been putting their multiplication skills to good use when calculating the area of different shapes. I wonder if they could calculate the area of an enclosure big enough to hold a giant?
