Inspiration from the Past

This term Year Three pupils have been looking at how animals have been depicted through the ages, from ancient Roman through to the Vikings. Both classes really enjoyed making a clay pinch pot before decorating their design with an animal of their choice.

Creative Confectionery

Here’s a sample of the exciting ideas created by our Year Five Pupils. Having looked at the work of Wayne Thiebaud, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen pupils created a piece of Public Art for Richardson Dees Park. Can you imagine climbing over the ‘Octopus Cake’ or jumping through a giant doughnut?

WESTERN STEAM

Arts Award Adventures

Our Year Four pupils are working with artist/teacher Elliott Rush as an introduction to Arts Award. The ‘Discover’ Arts Award involves; taking part in arts activities, researching artists or craftspeople and their work, and sharing their Arts discoveries. After developing music compositions last week, pupils have now created their own fantasy architecture.

Year Four are currently exploring the fantastic adventures of Beowulf. Part of this Anglo Saxon tale involves a battle to slay the fire breathing dragon. Over the next few weeks we are going to create short animations to illustrate this exciting story.
