News from Year 4
The children in Year 4 have been discovering their inner songwriters! They have listened to music from the First World War and discussed the themes that the songs addressed. They looked at the impact WW1 had on both the soldiers, and those who remained at home, focusing on the role that women and children played during the war. As a class they generated song ideas and worked together with Mr Rush to write lyrics and compose their own class song. They enjoyed recording it and performing it to the school!
4CM create the lyrics to their own wartime song
A picture of my loved ones
A picture of my loved ones
kept close to my heart
never more than a thought away
will never make me fall apart. (X2)
What are my family doing?
I miss our lovely teas
and the seaside walks in the sunset
With a calming gentle breeze
What are my family doing?
Are they by the crackling fire?
Singing songs of togetherness
Which is what we all desire.
The children also created Remembrance Day works of art, using different shading techniques in pencil and creating a stunning visual impact by painting red poppies in the foreground.
